The year voting got weird

BIDEN HARRIS 2020

Our task was not only motivating a public reeling from the effects of a pandemic to vote but we also had to fight voter suppression, stimulate apathetic young voters and teach Americans how to vote using new and increasingly bewildering methods—methods that varied state by state, county by county, and seemed to update almost daily.

We fought the same-ness of political messaging and the strangeness of the times by getting a little weird and bringing a lot of joy. We created a diverse suite of edutainment bursting with playful characters, humor and charm. In total, we produced 700+ original assets in just seven weeks.

Meet Votey Mc Voterson

Votey Mc Voterson is an adorable ballot, born out of a real need to guide voters and untangle confusion around returning a vote this year and brought to life by the legendary animators at Psyop. Votey’s series of state-specific adventures were narrated by celebrities like comedian Margaret Chow and talkshow host Andy Cohen.

Over 700 original assets were created in just seven weeks

With an ‘always-on’ working model the team worked “day” and “night” shifts, 7 days a week so that every moment was covered during the critical last weeks before Election Day. We created videos, OOH, social posts, bus wraps and even flying banners.

As a result IWillVote.com generated more than 20 million unique page views, more than half a million people started their voter registration and 4 out of 6 targeted swing states voted blue.

We "broke" one of America's biggest digital billboards

We took over the "Nevada Spectacular" on the Las Vegas strip forcing the massive screens to "glitch" and flooding it with pop-ups, cat videos and messages. It stole attention to let voters know the "voting system" only "fails" if we don't vote.
